The Swan Knights of Dol Amroth

First post for our new blog for Kapiti Hobbies - WooHoo!

Thought I share some pics of my Swan Knights of Dol Amroth, I finished painting up last month for The Hobbit / Lord of the Rings SBG.

A continuing commitment to trying to reduce the stashed Lead & Plastic Mountain ... which wargamer hasn't got one of those eh? ;)

I tried to match the depicted box art, and 'eavy Metal teams painting style. I even gave the armour a thinned blue wash to try and blend the overall look with the horses blue cloth barding, shields  and pennants.

I think the only thing I did different was I painted the horses saddle and bridle a brown colour, rather then the grey the EM team used...

Slightly fiddly work getting the facial features and eyes done within their helmets! Fine brush and a steady hand required!

Paintjob done, the bases were finished off with a mix of static grass, and some flower tufts an long grass tufts.

These guys will see their first game on Sunday 30th Sept, when Bryan Thomson... is hosting a mini Hobbit/LoTR themed event entitled Fall of the North...

6 teams of 2 players (I'm teamed up with my son Chris) each will battle it out in a day tournie at the Saly Army hall in Tawa. Bryan has also promised plenty of Hobbity food throughout the day... so I can't wait for my Second Breakfast, Luncheon and Tea! ;)

Kapiti Hobbies will be providing some prize support on the day, and I'll try and take some pics at the event and give a report afterwards!

Just to get us into the mood, look on the ruins of Dol Guldur below!
